Gov. Abbott Pulls Back on Re-Opening Texas

On Friday June 26th, Gov. Abbott took action with the recent spikes with the corona virus throughout the state of Texas. Bars have been ordered to close, restaurants are to scale back to 50% capacity and all river-rafting business have been ordered to shut down business.

This all comes from recent spikes in possitive COVID-19 testing throughout the state of Texas.

“At this time, it is clear that the rise in cases is largely driven by certain types of activities, including Texans congregating in bars," Abbott said in a news release. "The actions in this executive order are essential to our mission to swiftly contain this virus and protect public health."

The major shift came the ban of outdoor gatherings of 100 or more people. Earlier this week the governor had allowed each city to create their own restrictions on outdoor activities. These are the first actions taken by the Governor's office to reverse the opening of Texas. We will work to keep everyone updated as the situation evolves.
